I made the mixture for this yesterday using mandarins. I'll report back later today with the results :)

These worked a treat with mandarins :D

When I made the mixture yesterday, I reduced the sugar to 150g and used 5 smallish madarins. Today, I made 12 open tarts and brushed the edges of the pastry with a mixture of egg, vanilla and nutmeg. I cooked them for ten minutes with the fan on, and then turned it off for the last 5.
I had some mixture leftover so I added 300ml milk and 50g cornflour and cooked it for 7 minutes/90 degrees/reverse + speed 4 to make mandarin custard ;)

Thanks for a great recipe Chookie :-*

Amy, after you have called in at Robyn's you can duck down to my place for some more I have a Meyer lemon tree and it is loaded.  The great thing about Meyer lemons is they have fruit all year round, I am never with out lemons.

Are they easy to grow? Is it a hassle to maintain it pest free?

Courton,  I have had this tree for about 20 years, I do nothing to it, twice it has had a bit of scale and I just sprayed it with white oil, I feed it with citrus food once a year,  It is a small tree about 6 ft high and 10 ft wide.  The fruit is just lovely and so much of it, all my friend and family collect their lemons when they visit.

I have possums here, last year I found some with the skin eaten off them, I think the little rascals ate most of my oranges.  if you can protect the tree while it is young you should be ok.  I don't mind sharing a bit of fruit but I get mad when they eat the lot.  I have the most trouble when the stone fruit is ready I have to cover everything, the birds have a field day.

I just thought I'd post this photo, it is the mandarin custard I made with the remaining tart mixture :)
It turned out really well :D
