Looking forward to a week of mild temperatures. The heat was not nice. However, I was able to use the time to put more recipes on Cookidoo.

Yes it’s much better now, we had 2 very hot days so it wasn’t too bad. The kids are over from Melbourne, they managed to buy a RAT kit to ensure our safety and when they got to the border on Friday they were surprised to find there was no-one there checking paperwork etc.  It seems authorities don’t care anymore.

that's a worry, Judy, I know everyone is tired of COVID but it can't just be left to run wild.   As well as observing strict hygiene and mask rules in the shop when customers are there,  we have just purchased 50 RATs to be available for our staff when we re-open on 17 Jan. so that they (and us) can at least monitor our personal situations on a regular basis.

Having said that, you must be loving having the family together again - have a great time with them.

Another lockdown does not surprise me at all, Chookie - DH and I were discussing this possibility yesterday - but the authorities will have a challenging time enforcing it simply because most people are weary of the whole COVID routine and don't understand that there is really very little choice left - the early days of "herd immunity" didn't work so lockdowns are the only viable option to control the spread and take the pressure off the medical professions. I don't look forward to another one, but we will be first in line to comply.

I honestly don't know what can be done re Covid. Opening the borders seems to have made it worse. People just don't do the right thing. We have had Delta here from a backpacker who isn't vaccinated, and it has spread. We have been so lucky so far, but I think that will end. Wearing masks is horrid in the hot weather, I think I will stay home if I can.
Marina that is good of you to buy the RAT kits. I believe they are very hard to get.
Judy, I'm shocked to think that no one was on the border. I think they don't care anymore .
This article in The West Australian yesterday wasn't bad. It speaks of how West Aussie's need to act and not follow the Eastern States. If you may be offended please don't read it.

I rang the doctor surgery this morning to make and appointment to have out booster jab only to be told they don't have any supplies and weren't taking bookings until they get some later this week.  I have to ring again next Monday.   In the meantime we only go out if it's really necessary.  We are starting to feel like hermits.
