Today my raised garden bed tanks are arriving. I need to dig out some bay trees before they get here. Hope it’s not raining.
While in Melbourne I bought a new pie maker. It makes oblong pies. I also bought a waffle machine. The one I have is awful. David Jones is delivering them free. They should arrive today.
This may be of interest. David Jones , in their little cafe on the first floor we’re making Jaffles to have with tea or coffee. They looked like a toasted sandwich but were cooked in a jaffle machine. The one I had was ham and cheese. They were precooked and reheated in a sandwich press.

Take it easy digging out those Bay trees, Chookie. It will be exciting to get the raised beds and start using them - are they wicking beds?
I have just ordered an electric blanket from DJs, it is click and collect, also on on the first floor of the shop, so I might just HAVE to suss out those jaffles when I go in tomorrow!

Yesterday was one of the most interesting days I’ve had for a long time.
The free delivery arrived from DJ.
I successfully made the SD finger crumpets.
I ordered a new treadmill which was on sale.
My lovely cleaner helped me remove the Bay trees.
The raised garden beds arrived and fitted perfectly. I started to fill them with bags of potting mix which was in the garage. A boy in the street asked me what time it was. He saw me lifting the 25 K bags and asked if I needed help. I said yes as I was wondering why he and a girl were wondering about. They both helped me. I asked if they would like some cake and a drink. They had nicked off from school as they had nothing to do. We had a long talk about what was going on at school. They were about 15 and completely lacking in direction. They were nice kids and I hope they don’t continue to nick off.
Then I experimented with the waffle machine. It’s a Breville and seems good.

Chookie that is so lovely of you. We were just discussing the fact that the young people probably enjoyed their chat with you as you wouldn’t be putting any pressure on them and they could chat freely.
I did my grocery shopping this afternoon and this morning watched a Facebook thing from thermomix on making Canelė. I’m going to give them a try.

Chookie you have fitted a lot of rewarding things in one day .
Last night DH and I went to DS Rist certificate lll of Agriculture graduation. 18 months for this one and a year for the Cert ll . He even got an award as well . So nice to see a great group of graduates together . DS managed his first year with a fractured collar bone and following on with doing a very practical course during covid . Obviously the last year has had all the freedom and practical learning. This week started with us collecting the replacement new Ute , the men were very pleased with the comfy seats and newer technology.

Bought a new treadmill. Installed next week. GS is coming for dinner on Monday and removing old machine.
Yesterday visited friends/ neighbours at Invermay. They gave me some plants for my new garden. I gave them some SD crumpets and new version of SD Waffles and jam.
I’ve joined the local Probus group . It is a mixed group of 90 members. I’ve been out to 2 afternoon teas with them before I decided to join. They are very well organised and meet at the Golf Club restaurant just down the road from me. There are more than 12 Probus groups in Ballarat. I’ve had difficulty with activities as everything seems to be on a Wednesday. Several of the Probus girls have sorted out a Tai Chi class for me that happens on a Monday so will free up Wednesdays.

Wow, you’re really getting into it Chookie - much like I did when I was in the same position as you. 12 Probus groups in Ballarat, that’s a lot of clubs! Did you choose the closest or did you know someone who attended one?

Judy, one of the members was in an exercise class is a member. She also live close. She suggested I go to a meeting and see if I like what was going on. I liked the friendly caring attitude. There are quite a few teachers in the group so I feel quite at home. Also I’ve had a good laugh with some of the antics. There was a discussion about the Sex book that is a bit controversial. There were some very creative suggestions as to how some of the topics could be handled.
Had lunch today with DD. She is off to Thursday Island again.

Chookie the Probus group sounds perfect. You are certainly filling your time and should be very proud of yourself. I hope I would do the same as you and Judy.
Nothing much yet today. I will be watching the footy later today to see my team getting beaten again. Although this week’s games have had weird results so we might win. Bad luck for your team Judy, I was sure they would win.

I hope your team have a win cookie. You had more confidence in my team than I did, glad it was a Crows home match and not ours as I’d not enjoyed that match at all.
Today I took my old Hoover upright to vacuum DD’s MIL’s place as I hated her pull along model. The result was quite obvious, mine had way more suction than hers so it coped so much better with the cat hair. I told her she could have it as I upgraded my Dyson last week and now have 2 of them. Helped her change her bed and brought her sheets home here to wash. Her 6 week check up is on Friday, she should get the all clear to do more and get back to driving. She still needs an op on her foot and the other knee done when she feels ready to go again.

Good on you Judy. I’m sure she appreciates what you are doing for her.
One of the Probus group , picked me up and took me to a new Tai Chi class so I could free up Wednesday’s to do other activities. I’ve also joined their book club. This will be a new experience. I’m also going to see Oppenheimer with them. I worked with a woman whose husband was part of Oppenheimer’s team. It will be my first theatre outing since COVID.
