I had planned to do the grocery shopping this morning, but after hanging round to make the speedster boys morning tea, I couldn’t be bothered. I will go tomorrow

Like chookie we are trying to keep cool.  This is not my kind of weather.

Not good with the heat. Hopefully it isn’t too bad for you.

Days have muted into nights , DD arrived at airport 6.20 am picked her up after only getting 4 hours sleep again . Back to the farm , DD was exhausted . We both had a sleep in preparation for DD GF 21st . We all went except the boys latter on as trying to finish harvest . Fantastic night lots of adults and young , they partied later on in shearing shed . Today I totally crashed slept. It’s been very warm . Men went out and harvested all day . Although a total fire ban there was no paddock ban - just had to be very cautious. The wind gusted for a little while. They will be out to the early hours . Although the last paddock is the burnt one so it will be interesting how they go ! Smoked wheat could be a niche market!!

KAtie, smoked bread could be a new thing.
Again trying to keep cool. There hasn’t been wind with the heat, this time. I’m managing to keep the house at about 24 degrees.
I’ve adapted RTE  mini Quiche recipe to the TMX. I’ll try and find time to put it on my Blog.

I think the men got in at 4am ! DD slept all day yesterday and had a little dinner then slept most of the night . I seemed to do the same . Now it’s already 21• didn’t realise it’s going to be 39 today !! Not sure how our house hold will pull up today . They need food and I’ll have to cook in this heat or become very inventive . Maybe I should make pancakes then they can eat them during the day .

Hot here today as well with visitors coming (1 Korean, 1 Hong Konger ... what to make??).  The easy (i.e. cheats) answer  for dinner - Gado Gado (alll mixed in a bowl, no heating required) and raw - or blanched as appropriate - veges.  Followed by ice cream and fresh strawberries.  I have never see my Gado Gado disappearing so quickly!

Marina, what a good idea.
2 days of 37 degree heat will last me for Summer. Today a cool 19. The clock on the drip irrigation system has a mind of its own.  I’m replacing it today.
My next door neighbour came in for breakfast. I made herb and cheese omelettes. Then another visitor came for morning tea and I’m ashamed to say I opened a packet of chocolate biscuits.

That packet of biscuits is a sign of a well run home, Chookie - there is always an emergency option on hand!

I have an appointment tomorrow at Dandenong hospital for another barrium swallow.  I'm still having a lot of trouble swallowing anything  so this will be an interesting visit.

Hi everyone, just had several pages to read on this one subject alone. K Atie your Christmas period sounded like a nightmare to me, glad to hear everyone is OK. How busy you all sounded in the lead up to your Christmas lunch, I highly recommend a cruise at this time of the year! We enjoyed our cruise even though the weather wasn’t kind to us, cold and windy. 2 weeks of having to do nothing was quite easy to take and mealtimes seemed to come around so quickly. I did quite well with eating, ate a lot more than I do at home and didn’t need to top up with Sustagen. If I had, perhaps I would have put some weight on but at least I didn’t lose any. All too soon it was over and for these past 2 days life has been very busy again.

Great to hear from you Judy, I was thinking you would be back here soon!  It's a shame the weather wasn't too great, but that everything else went well and you were able to manage the food.

Mab, good luck with the visit to Dandenong hospital I hope they will find the problem.

Mab hope all goes well for you.
